We made it to fall, friends! Fall officially started yesterday and the weather is just starting to feel cooler here in New York. In August, I attended the MAGIC fashion trade show in Las Vegas. Among many things, I learned all about what will be trending this fall and winter. I want to share some of my favorite trends for fall. Whether you are looking to add several pieces to your wardrobe or a fall staple item, I think this post will give you inspiration that covers all fronts.
Animal Prints
Animal prints are huge this fall. Leopard print blouses, shoes & coats will be the most prevalent way you’ll see this trend manifest itself along with lots of python, tiger, zebra and cheetah patterns. Below are four bold pieces you can wear to spice any outfit up!
Cole Haan Leopard Mules ($100)
Realisation The Naomi Skirt ($180)
BP. Gathered Print Back Shirt ($49)
Chunky Sneakers
Despite how you may feel, the chunky sneaker trend is here to stay this fall/winter season. The Balenciaga Triple S, Adidas Falcon, Gucci Rhython, and Fila Disruptor 2 sneakers are cult items. I’m a fan of this trend. Chunky sneakers make you look taller, they are comfortable and you can pair them with any outfit to make it look effortlessly cool. They can be expensive but you don’t have to burn a hole in your wallet to sport this look. I love the three options below. They are under $80 and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that I wear my Fila Disruptors all the time.
Topshop Ciara Chunky Sneaker ($65)
ASOS DESIGN Dare Chunky Sneakers ($60)
Jewel Tones
Emerald, sapphire, ruby, amethyst and beyond. Jewel tones are very in and are a great way to make a less than exciting look come to life. Jewel toned hues bring a touch of sophistication to your outfit. Pair a jewel toned piece with any black item to make your outfit pop!
360 Oumie Cashmere Sweater ($288)
Free People Beside Me Bodysuit ($48)
Tweed
I was so excited when I learned tweed was trending again this fall. It is a great fall to winter transitional fabric and it has always been a favorite look of mine. It is classic and timeless. Pair a tweed jacket with skinny jeans to dress your look up or wear a tweed dress or tweed set for a more polished look. SHEIN, Revolve and Zara tend to have great tweed pieces in stock year round. They sell out fast though! Start looking at any of those three stores throughout the season if you are on the hunt for something tweed. I have included a set I love below.
Lovers + Friends Paola Cropped Jacket ($198) & Skirt ($138)
Western Vibes
Western inspired looks were very present this year at the Fall/Winter 2018 runway shows. One way to incorporate this trend into your everyday wardrobe is with a great pair cowboy-inspired boots or booties. I just got these Asos Black Studded Heeled Booties and I have gotten so many compliments on them. They are true to size and so chic.
Asos Raid Black Studded Buckle Heeled Booties ($64)
Isabel Marant Dawyna Boots ($780)
Zara Leather Cowboy Ankle Boot ($99)
The 1980’s Are Back
Believe it or not, ‘80s inspired looks are a massive trend this fall. Think mini skirts and dresses, neon hues, wide leg pants, pleated pants, bold shoulders, plaid and ruched details to name a few. My favorite way to wear this trend is by sporting a colored plaid piece or pair of wide leg pants like the below.
Bershka Plaid Mini Skirt ($32)
Babaton Quillian Wide Leg Pant ($148)
